96' Bontrager Privateer Comp

Re:

Privateer with a rigid fork. Plan is to repaint it ( probably orange to match my cotic) and fit the rc36 forks I have when I can find a smaller steerer

Changed some bits. Hope hubs on 217s with Smoke/Dart tyres feel less sluggish than the originals, 40mm wider X-lite bars feel better to me and an XTR seatpost (thanks James1985) just because :D
It has become my 'go to' bike, love it! Fits well and handles perfectly!
Next on the list is a new steerer and an aheadset to go with a nice Controltech stem. Hopefully solving the perpetually loosening headset issues!
Having picture issues I'll try to put more up later.
Please excuse the modern pedals   DSC_0019-1280x722.JPG

Looking good. I'm just heading to garage to fit rigid forks to mine.

I got my replacement steerer from justbackdated (Tim Price) on here. He had several in stock. I think Pace have 1" ahead steerers on ebay too.

Thanks slackboy!
Yes Pace have steerers available through their website, it'll have to wait til after Christmas though.
I'd be interested what you think of it rigid, I'd like to try it myself, just have to wait for the right fork to come up.

Re:

Aluminium steerer from Pace, Tange headset and Controltech stem fitted, hopefully ending the loosening headset issues.

Re:

Last ride on this the other day prior to stripping and repainting, I nearly sold it a couple of months ago but thankfully realised the error of my ways :D
I have removed the canti stop and had Gil make up some new decals, just not quite 100% on the colour yet. I really like this bike, it definitely deserves a repaint!

Took this apart to get it painted, couldn't decide on colour, doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon so put it back together to try some new parts, still love it! :D
