Hey all, been a while since I've been on and anywhere near the KHS. Nearly stalled the project after I nearly didn't get the BB out. Was stuck like nothing I've ever seen - even with my 16st hanging from a breakers bar attached to a bb tool it wouldn't budge  . However, sprayed half a can of WD40 down the seat tube, left for 4 weeks and gave it a go it finally budged!!!! :D Now onto the next problem.....

I know its a 68mm BB but haxe no idea if it's a 68x113, 115 etc etc. Can anyone help. Had a look at Bikepedia and also the KHS brochure I have but no luck.

Can anyone help me??

Cheers

Cheers Fluffy Chicken,

Its a Sugino Impel (350 according to the Brochure) 22, 32, 42 if the Ring size makes any difference. I think its the same one that came with the bike originally.

I don't know the sugio cranks and Sheldon doesn't give much light for them either...

I've looked at Kona's 1994 cat (as they use Sugio) the 350 is not there but I guess it's very low end ? so probably is the same as 400 and that's using 115 on their bikes.
The higher model 500 etc use 113

This seems to be the range 113 to 118 I guess then.
115 would be the safe bet if I had to guesstimate one then.

Thanks again FluffyChicken, will give it a try. HAd a look on the BB and there's nothing on it apart from some serial numbers and the fact that it's 68mm.

Sometime soon I will have it on the road!!

Yeah as stated above just get a tape and measure end to end of axle and buy the closest one you can. From what i recall of sugino cranks they tend to be narrower- 110mm or something but a simple measure will do the trick

Cheers lewis,

Must admit I was like a schoolboy when that BB came out today  - was expecting to have to admit defeat and have the wife berate me for months for buying a useless bike from fleabay and it going nowhere....

I know what you mean. Bottom brackets are the only thing really capable of writing off an otherwise decent frame. I hate it when you have to swing on a big bar to get one undone. Particularly hate it when the tool jumps off and you lose skin.
