95 DBR Vertex TA

BTW, I have the 1995 retail price list with my brochure. The Vertex TA frameset (lists it as frame and forks - so guessing the forks from the brochure page) was £734.38.

I'm surprised the spec isn't higher, ie XT. Did they save on the groupset so they could afford the Easton tubing and Manitou?

Do you know the price of the WCF Vertex?

Just bought a frame.... :P

The pricelist only has that as the retail price for the bike (ie nothing on there for the frame / frameset alone). Retail price for the bike (WCF Vertex) was £1099 in 1995.

Thanks! :)

Neil, thanks for the catalog scan.

Good to know it came standard with a 2" fork.

Might have to move this one up a few spots in my build list.

Re:

I know this is an old thread, but I know how hard it is to get info on some of this stuff, so wanted to chime in.

I had an 18" of this bike when it came out, the first that hit Australian shores - it was the display bike from the Melbourne industry show and our sales rep got so sick of me pestering him for one he arranged for our shop to get that one rather than me wait for any others to be delivered from the US.
So to answer a question earlier in this conversation, mine was handmade by Control Tech in the US, before they went bust and sold their name for OEM stuff etc.

It was an amazing frame, mine ended up with Judy SL's, Cook Bros e-cranks, the White Ind. coke can hubs in 517 rims with Wheelsmith 15/18 gauge spokes, full XTR, Answer Hyperlite bars etc etc - in the low 8kg range at that point.

Anyway, just wanted to pitch in where they were made as I was lucky to be in the industry at the time :) I miss that bike a lot.
