a 'chancer'...that's funny. i missed the pun 1st time around as i was so incensed about the accusation!
so, i'm just back from seeing the bike. no pics, as i took the camera but left the memory card in my PC. doh!
it is a chance (built in mass.) bike, not serotta/ny. definitely a yo, with TT cable routing at 9 o'clock. the current owner received it in '94 as a replacement for a wicked that had rusted out at the bb. it was internally rustproofed at the factory and has a rubber seal around the seatpost entry point, which seem to have done their job. i pulled the seatpost out and looked in with a flashlight and it looks quite solid. before i commit to it, i'll have the BB pulled. more on that later.
condition is good, but not pristine. there is a light dent in the top tube from the goofy linkage fork swivelling around an hitting the tube. i'd say 5/8"h x 1/8"w x 1/16"d (or less). owner has fashioned a hard plastic guard to prevent further damage, which seems quite effective. there is another dent at the non-drive side seatstay/dropout junction...very minor. basically the nice sharp corner around the circumference of the bullet isn't so sharp.
paint is generally good...a magenta/plum fade with nice sparkles. drive-side chainstay has worn lizardskin since new, though there is some evidence of chainsuck in the bit of exposed tubing between the 'skin and the BB shell. other than that, nothing atypical...some cable scuffing on the top tube, light nicks here and there...all appear to have been touched up as they happened. BOI fork is much cleaner, though has a few nicks as well. decals all present and in good shape. labeled 'team fat chance'.
build details: set up as single-speed...noleen fork (clean, pivots seem good), king HS (a bit of play), yellow kore stem, purple hyperlight bars (somewhat faded), WTB grease-guard BB (has significant play), race face i-bean/turbine cranks (the older design, with the circular spider cutouts), white industries/mavic front wheel, generic rear wheel (topo hub), surly cog, avid v-brakes w/XT levers.
the law-abiding details: i'm chancing nothing. if i don't have my costs covered, guaranteed, i have no reason to risk my own funds & time to buy/pack/ship this. seller wants $600 (up from the 'whoops, typo' $500 he had in the local craigslist, which prompted my inquiry), and has had less interest than he expected.
frame/BOI: $350
noleen: $150
bars/stem/brakes: $50
wheels: $75
all above: $600
i keep headset, cranks, bb. you pay actual shipping. i have made a few sales here, and you'll find a short feedback thread regarding me. i also eBay as 'dookie!' (including the '!'). you will find nothing but satisfied buyers there as well, including some international sales.
the bad news: i *was* first in line. seems the seller has a mate who has expressed some interest and has been allowed to cut in front of me. i should know this evening whether the bike is still available.
after hearing the details, if you are interested in anything listed, at the prices listed, PM me immediately. dibs to those who have already expressed interest, and as a wise man once said "f-k the police".
