'94 Kilauea - P2 > RC31

My '94 Kilauea currently has a later threadless Project 2 fork, and I like the ride. A friend of mine is getting rid of a 420mm model Pace RC31, and I'm wondering about making him an offer, mostly in the interests of saving a little weight up front.

Anyone else made the swap? What did you think? The main issue seems to be a 10mm change in the fork length.

If it matters, this is a 20" frame, and I'm 6'1" and 190 lb

If its any help I run a 100mm suspension fork on a Kona designed around a 70mm fork and I actually prefer the handling

That said, it obviously does change the way the bike rides :roll:

IMHO 10mm shouldn't make too much of a difference.

On another note don't RC31's have a maximum rider weight limit? I don't mean to be rude but I'm a similar weight and was always discouraged from them.

Of course this might only apply to the carbon/ti ones :roll: :?

As far as i know pace rigid forks up until recently (when dtswiss bought them over) had a rider max weight limit of 185lbs and that includes the Ti ones.

Hold on a minute i might be talking mince, think that rider weight limit was for the carbon/Ti ones but i'd check with pace anyway

The weight limits I've found on the web suggest 210 or 225 lbs. I'm a fair way from that.

However, since the aim of the exercise is to shed weight, it would make much more sense to keep the P2 fork I'm happy with and shed 10lbs myself.
