So, owning a healthy stable of Kona's in various states of repair, I was happy. No need for anymore bikes. I have a 91 fire mountain, a 92 lavadome, and a 95 cindercone. I had happily announced to my wife I didn't need any more, these would keep me tinkering for years to come. I even sold a few others so content was I with the fleet.

You can see where this is going. Casually scrolling they for sale section I came across this 93 Kilauea, formally owned by Pipmeister and then jinjrich. Always liked them, always seemed out of my price range, I went for it...

This is going to be a slow burn, the only parts I have so far are a new bb and a Middleburn chainset. A set of wheels are on there way. This won't be catalogue spec, more period correct-ish M735 XT primarily then a few luxury bits to make it a bit special, but always keeping in mind its being built to be ridden.

 glad this is back on here.

These are all about the frame and how it rides, never found another steel frame that rides the same. Some nice dependable parts and just ride and enjoy

Wheels on, starting to look like a bike at least

Re:

And it's done for now. I'd planned a slightly fancier spec but the desire to ride it won out. In time I want to change the levers for some xlite chicken stix and the canti's to the something nicer, but for now I'm very happy with it. Weighs bang on 24lbs with out trying so chuffed with that.
