'92 Verlicchi DH - Finished 27/02/2011

Very nice

1-1/4 headset, no bottle mounts, earlier zocchi fork... - yours must be somewhat earlier than mine.

fantastic dude, looks ace 8) ,cant say i ever seen one running suntour, how very lgf

sweet as a sweet nut

First ride - shock pump arrived through the post, perfect! Pump everything up, set about 2mm of sag for the 5mm of travel (hehe!)

Go out for spin...

er..

wot??

Aaaagh!! wot de fook?

Imagine you've just fitted a screw on cassette to your wheel and when you first pull away theres still a little tightening to be done as you pedal.

Now imagine this all the time!

Or extreme biopace/ egg ring effect. Basically as you put the power down, the effect is to pull the swing arm back to its full travel, so pedalling pulls the swing arm back down. Very disconcerting!

If you remain seated, the effect disappears and you are rewarded with a 'normal' ride. Even the Marzocchis track well for an early design fork. Yes there is a bit of fork leg waddle but no where near as bad as my first RS MAG 20. The rear reminds me of a Proflex in how stiff it is. Proflexs' ride like a rigid frame with their short travel. The Verlicchi is very similar, no wobble or pivot effect that I've experienced with other early rear suspension.

This is definitely for going down rather than up. I will give it a thorough ride out one day. Maybe with a shimano 7spd cassette wheel as I dont want to wear out the Suntour 7.

One of these budget pumps recommended:
