Pretty sure that's real, called 'Mardi Gras' or something, one of the rarer schemes for sure, but similar one like 'Rainforest' are well known:

Did all original paint Mardi Gras come without and badges?

I have to agree, it looks awful.

The badges on Jon's repro break up the paint and make it a little easier on the eye, I much prefer this:

It looks to be a Mardi Gras repaint. Mardi Gras wasn't available until 1993 and by that time Klein had switched to the Uni-Klein fork with the rounded shoulders. The bike in the pictures you posted show the earlier fork with the boxed shoulders. If the fork is original to the frame, then it can't be original paint because Mardi Gras wasn't available at the same time.
