Would like twistgrip shifters for an upcoming build but also have an extreme preference for manual shifting/trimming of front mech. If you haven't got anything what can you recommend?

:)

Werent they all non-indexed front shifters. I've never seen one that wasn't. They have indicators painted on, but just work on a continuous ratchet

SRT-600 and SRT-800 for 3 x 8 usually have two or three extra clicks between indexed positions on the left-hand shifter. If that's enough trimming for you, finding a stray left-hand example without its mate might be the way forward.

I tried the Shimano Revoshift in a shop, just to see what they felt like and they were okay: a clunky shift rather than a loud click; a lot better than no-name Chinese or MicroShift but a bit bulky. The SRAM MRX Comp are less bulky and I tried out a 3 x 8 set on one bike: I couldn't get the right-hand shifter to index but I was happy with the left-hand shifter and it was noticeably quieter than the old SRTs. Again, IIRC there were two extra clicks between the indexed positions.

There's also SRAM MRX (no 'Comp') but they have a smooth surface and I'm not sure the grip will be that great in the wet.

got some cheap Shimano if still interested - no idea on the left shifter though

For wheel tweekyness, it would have to be Sachs Wavey originals - they had almost infinite left hand shifting for the front mech
