653 Dawes Synthesis

Nice collections of 700c steel frame straight bar bikes on show, I always like the Marin versions. Had some SanRafaels and Sausalitos that were always a good fast ride.
Here another couple of mine.

anything steel, 700c with canti stops and good tyre clearance gets my vote ! Slender retro tubing with gravel or CX tyres looks infinitely better than ghastly carbon nonsense and grotesque oversize alu imho.
its deifnitely true that current generation also wont go for skinny tyres and definitely not 26" rims so these make sense if you are ever going to sell them on - simply add flared drop bars and rename as 'gravel' as no-one wants a 'hybrid' even though they are the same thing.

Couldn’t find a Dawes synthesis in my size locally but managed to find this crossroads which I’ve almost finished building up as a gravel rig.
