531 raleigh, which size bottom bracket ?

Frame painted and nearing first build up - bought shimano bb-un55 today from Halfords £5...double checked all dimensions etc and all ok...will clean up internal threads and hand tighten it later today.

Ah, just sent you a PM. I have a vvgc 600 tricolour BB that would be perfect for this.

Hi Before you go and buy a BB its not just the length and shell width you need to know as its a Raleigh they have different tread (26tpi) and not 24tpi which your modern BB will be if you have the orginal cups please keep them and you can use a Phill Woods with these cups and this will probably cost more than your frame, again S Brown will mention this on his website, have fun...

Ride your bike! The tiger stripes will wear off fully with a little more time and I don't really see an advantage in deliberately wearing down an irreplaceable old rim further.

Don't worry mate your Raleigh takes a standard British threaded bb. The other type were on older 3 speeds etc

Sorry if that was misinformation I've only worked on the older Raleighs with Sturmey Archer gears but didn't realise others ones were different and very glad to know now so again learning all the time,
