On the hunt for a 90s 531/ 653/ Tange etc (you get the idea) frame and forks or even just a frame.

Needs to have a 1 1/8 head tube. Either lugged or fillet brazed. Threaded or ahead is fine.

I’m a bit uncertain of frame sizes/geometry of this era, but I normally go for a medium frame with a long head tube.

Cash or trade, I have a bunch of 1st gen Suntour XC parts if interested…

Thanks for looking!

I’ve got something that might fit the bill.
1993 Claud Butler Cape Wrath, 653 magnum main triangle, 531 the rest. Uni-crown forks. 1-1/8th threaded head. Fully refurbished brand new black powder coat with brand new reproduction foil graphics (mistakenly in the ‘94 layout - my mistake)
It’s the medium 18” (seat tube)

Really nice. I like the details such as the seat stay caps and the chainstay lugs. I think that’s gonna be too small for me though

Fair enough, although for your info, they came in three sizes 16” - 18” - 20”
I’ve got a few Clauds (you might have noticed) predominately 18” & 20”
I’m 6’1” with long legs (34” inside leg, more typical for someone around 6’2”/6’3”)
I find the 20” comfy using short-ish stems (90mm)
And the 18” usable with a tall post and long stem (120mm)

Thanks for the info Peachy, and yes I have noticed your interest in Claud Butlers :)

I’m just under 5’ 10” long legs short arms with a stiff back (imagining an aging t-rex), so I’ve often gone for a taller bike than my height would suggest - though with a sloping top tube so I can actually ride the thing.. here’s one of mine from a while back:

Looks like you need an Overbury’s maybe?

I do like them… a lot. But I quite fancy doing something a bit different, leaving my comfort zone of the 1” steerer!

Mine's up for sale now;
