ha ha! first one to the pub! the scent of chips and ale makes me up the pace somewhat. i felt good all ride, comfortable and fairly fit. the breeze was strong but, not a problem unless you have tioga disk-drive or a raleigh extreme.

big thanks to kaya for the day out. a fantastic route with a good variety of terrain and pub grub. looking at that picture i could eat that again, right now

Was most of the ride on the old track bed?

Is the track bed suitable for a tag a long? Would love to take my daughter round there next summer.

Is the track bed suitable for a tag a long? Would love to take my daughter round there next summer.

partially ok for a tag-along but, expect occasional get off and walk sections. my first pic is one of those sections. the tougher bits are on the 'far' side of the old line. for much flatter and longer bits use the near side(to the road) where a short out and back would be possible. for example- start at the lion inn pub and follow old line across to chimney bank and back, some decent mileage and nice views for your needs.
terrain is compact and fast rolling, crushed stone in some recently repaired sections.
