27mm seatpost in 26.8mm

Would this be ok :?: I can remember having a 27mm post in my old endorphin but the bikepedia site says 26.8 would 27mm be alright
As I am struggling to find a carbon one in 26.8

Going to be a bit suck-it-and-see, really. If the frame's at one end of tolerance and the post's at the other, it may work. But you couldn't guarantee it for a post you don't own yet. Got some vernier calipers? Measure the inside of the seat tube...

I will measure it tommorrow when it arrives  but the thing is I have had this frame before and remember having on of them inline ones that you screw down to tighten the set and it was 27mm I am sure and that went in o.k.....I think that thomson make a 26.8mm post but wanted a carbon one really

I've used a 27.0 in a 27.2 frame with no ill effects. If you want a snugger fit, you can cut a length of aluminum from a soda can and wrap it around the post. Never actually tried it because I didn't need to, but sounds like a good trick.

Edit: I just re-read your question. Ignore my answer as I thought you were asking about fitting a 26.8 post in a 27 tube.

It does put added stress on the slit in the seat tube that is not intended to move that much and can eventually lead to a crank or split. Best to stay with the recommended post or shim a smaller post to the recommended size.

Nah your right  I have managed to find a tioga that is long enough to do the job in 26.8mm so problem sort of solved :? I wanted a carbon one really but they are quite rare in 26.8 and mostly in america.
