Got some TALAS I forks on the lad's bike - working fine I think apart from weeping oil past seal on the rebound side... oil and muck accumulating on upper stanchion. Seems ok otherwise, bounces right, TALAS works, no scoring of stanchions...Thing is he's about to grow out of this bike in the next few months and wants bigger wheels on the next bike, and I am currently extremely time and cash poor - so idealy could do without paying for or doing full service right now on forks with an uncertain destiny (TBF they willprobably be swapped onto one of my Fishers as/when!)...
Was wondering whether I can just drop the lowers and do a quick foam ring and seal swap, fresh bath oil.... Without having to faff with deflating/reinflating the IFP thing, removing the TALAS assembly (have found the bootleg service guide on here etc)....Probably a very daft question perhaps, but assume there's no issue with keeping the TALAS and damper assemblies snug in their uppers, pumping damper oil out, swapping the parts and then refilling etc?
Any advice appreciated - Cheers!
