Got the Bontrager Racelite wheeled bike out of the garage today for 1st time in about 3 months....wondered why front brakes dragging....and then why two spokes hanging loose! Yup, cracked/broken hub.
Quick search reveals a common problem. I'm less than 9st and a very gentle tow-path rider - so I guess pretty shoddy quality.
The rims are v good - braking tracks fine. Rear hub LOOKS OK. So is it worth rebuilding the front? And if so are there any cheap 24H hubs about? Shimano Capreos seem to be designed mainly for small wheelers - BUT are recommended for radial spoking. 20 quid or so to save a pair of wheels seems a good deal - right or wrong?
