I got the frame directly from Brooklyn Machine Works in Powers St in 2009 when I visited NYC for the first time right after graduating to spoil myself a bit. In the two or three years to follow I managed to get some first gen BMW components and other stuff which is super hard to find now, but then life happened and everything started to collect dust. Fast forward to 2024 when my fiancée picked up the idea to finally finish the build (guess she was annoyed of only the frame standing around in the flat). After countless nights and cigarette brakes spent on ebay, pinkbike, facebook, RetroBike and other forums and chasing down parts all around the globe, more countless nights cleaning, refurbing and installing everything (side note: I'm technically absolutely not inclined, but loved the process) the build was finally finished in May and I took the bike for its first spin in June this year.
