I've been off the mountain bikes for a bit now and have been spending most of the time on the road. I think the way the mtb industry has changed quite a bit recently has put me off a little bit, wanting to wait for it to settle before buying another mtb. That and the shear cost buying new! This bring me back to looking at second-hand parts. I've had a fair bit of bad luck buying second-hand, with things arriving not as described etc. However, a lad in my local bike shop was selling this Mongoose so I snapped it up.

I quite like the suspension design of the Teocali, it's something different from the norm and scores a few points with me being from not as well regarded a brand. I bought the frame and forks and will build this up over the next few months to an alright spec.

So here it is:

Fox Float rear shock

Set of Fox Vanilla 130R forks to go with the frame

I'll service the forks and rear shock and fit new seals etc before using them, more for piece of mind than anything.

Once the forks and shock are done I may build it up with parts I already have to see what it's like before splashing out on a new groupset and wheels for it. If I like it then the plan would be to build up it with a 2x10 Deore or SLX groupset with Hope brakes.

No hurry with this, just something to tinker with and as long as it's ready for Spring 2015 it'll do me.

Forks are stripped and new seals ordered. Thankfully no signs of stanchion wear, although foam rings and the oil were a bit grubby. Serviced them at just the right time :)

Seals arrived and fitted and new oil picked up. Should have the forks sorted tonight.

May even build this up this weekend with parts from another bike.

Intrigued, don't see many of these. Chris Akrigg has raised their profile a bit but never see many out on the trails.

The Teocali was a very well regarded bike, I seem to remember it got great reviews. You won't be dissapointed :)

Thanks for the comments, appreciate it :)

Groupset arrived yesterday. Was originally wanting to go 10speed, but these popped up in the classifieds and will save me a few £ on the build.

So brakes and wheels/tyres are the only things left I think!

I think I'll have to built it up with some Truvativ part that I already have. Nukeproof parts in the future would be nice, the Yellow logo would match up nicely with the frame. Good thinking.
