1x7/8/9, ramps or noramps on chainring?

Does it matter? Will ramps kill puppys and/or kittens? Will I get any response if I say it's gonna hang on a taiwanese-made frame that's not exactly fillet brazed?

Setup will be 1x7 or 1x8 with a suitable quality chain.
 
It'll be more likely to come off.

Spa Cycles do brand new Stronglight chainrings that are non-ramped and perfect for this application. Well worth the £8 (much cheaper than dental work anyway, which you might need if your chain derails).

Nice thx. Cheapest 5-bolt chainrings I've seen. Damn Surly-rings are easy to find everywhere, but priced as if they were made of gold..
 
On my SS ,im using an Azonic 37T,one of the thick types.cost me a i think a tenner on ebay
