Another project that got out of hand! Born from a growing dissatisfaction of the available bikes for kids (weight, size of components, etc), I decided to build a MTB for my 8 year old son. The only bikes that I liked were Islabikes and Opus, but both were difficult to get shipped to Holland. In fact looking here on the forum for a project for myself, I came across this very nice 1999 GT Avalanche frame in 14".

My son is very satisfied with his new bike "with the big wheels" and fits perfectly!
 
That's cute yet an awesome build and all those gears to unlike my little Raliegh Tomma Hawk i had at your son's age wich had a single free wheel and was broke within a couple of day's lol :( ..
