1999 era midrange steel kona frames. Are they the same frame

After 99 it was never the same....

Funnily enough, the Y2K Lava Dome had butted and tapered stays, which is a far higher spec than ever before and higher than the 99 Caldera.

I've never ridden one, but I imagine it made for a noticeably better ride quality.

Any idea?

It just means that it was built in Hodaka in 1996 or 2006, so it could be a 1996, 97, 06 or 07 model.

Likely a 96/97. Has the 'kona' stamped dropouts of the mid 90's era.

Can you tell what the model of frame is from the serial number?
