1998/9? Univega RAM 9-Fr.Update 15/01

Picked this up late last year as a whole bike...with a pretty random spec...soggy XC forks...early XT stuff..mismatched wheels..including a nice Citron Mavic.

Anyhows I have been wondering what to do with her, and because I have been having a lack of direction on my UFO build I have ended up with a good choice of parts..nearly enough for both bikes.

So I shall have started bolting bits on and shall see where we end up.

I think it deserves some decent kit, its a well made frame, of decent weight, and with some very nice touches..like the adjustable rear shock postion which seems to adjust ride height and must also change the wheelbase ( i think ) and additonal hose clips that actually hold the hose....

Planet X meteor Stem..heavy but I kind of like it
Club Roost Go Fast Riser
Mismatched Shifters 9spd XT M751 3spd LX m581. Would like another XT one.
ODI long BMX grips.
Nixon Platinum Evolve IT..( got something special coming....
Xm 719 on Hope
Hayes 9 Carbon...not decided on brakes yet..may use XT or perhaps C2s
Raceface Turbines on Truvativ Gigapipe
OE Rock shox Coupe Deluxe..may change this..

Had a play with some parts, and have ended up here for the time being.

Its a bit colourful I know, but its meant as a fun bike, so I thought what the hell. Built to last and take some abuse, hasn;t come in overheavy, so should be good for Trail centre stuff...and silly playtime to boot.

Swapped the Nixons for a pair off Z1 dropoffs.
Wheels are now D521 on Hope Bulbs
Odi Longreach grips, and a WTB Rocket Team Ti
NOS DX spuds
Kore Ti skewers.

Had to stick with 2.1 tyres and not the DH 2.5/6 I was planning due to the rear clearance. But reckon I may get away with some 2.3s .
Plus think I may end up with some 20mm axles eventually.

It will probably evolve/change once i have been out and about on her.
