Picked this up this morning.
It's not in mint condition, but it's pretty good for a bike that's been ridden and used over a 17 year period.
Components are a bit of a mix, XT-m740 shifters and Avid speed dial 5 levers.

Front and rear mechs are LX, as is the rear hub, but brake calipers and front hub are a later LX.
Rims are Mavic 221s and are barely worn, though the rear hub has a lot of play in it and may be shot.
Cranks and rings are by Sugino, no idea yet what the cassette is.

It seems that the mixture is pretty much original, brakes were LX cantilever and are now LX v-brakes and the front wheel has been replaced with a later LX hub and 221 rim.

I bought it for the forks, but now I've got it I'm thinking I might clean it up and rebuild it.

Am I right in thinking that the Avid levers will work with cantilever brakes and v-brakes?

Nice looking Scott :D

Got to be worth a coupleof rides before deciding it's fate?

Re:

Cant decide whether to do this as a catalogue correct rebuild or use what I have.

Original spec would mean re-using the Avid Speed Dial 5 levers and replacing the later LX V-brakes with LX Deore cantilevers. It would also mean sourcing an black LX Deore hubbed front wheel with Mavic 221.

I could use the Suntour XC brakes I've just bought. As they're black this would tone with the rest of the LX groupset.

I also have some Deore XT cantis that have been waiting for some while for a frame to live on, disadvantage they're silver.

If im going to part from the factory spec, Ive got some chicken stix and some XT thumbies that would go well with the XT cantis.

Then there's the yellow, the guy i bought this from chose the Judy SL's because "They matched the yellow Scott decals on the frame." I do have a set of crossrides with yellow hubs that would continue the banana coloured theme.

So LX, XT or XC brakes?

Speed Dial or Chicken Stix

XT M740 or XT thumbies

LX on 221 or Crossrides

Remember, I did only buy this for the forks in the first place.
