1997 Kona Kilauea.

Journey started with a frame which had been stripped, painted, etc and seatpost seized.

Had to caustic soda and virtually dissolve it out in the end.

Sprayed, decals from Gil, XT front and rear, DEORE thumbies and avid brakes, finished with dart and smokes. Most of the parts from my parts bin.

Super smooth and pretty light. Needs running in though.

A few later additions/non-period are the avid levers, Ritchey stem, non descript bars, Planet X saddle and I have a Ritchey WCS carbon seat post.

If it is a Kilauea it will be '96. Both the '96 and '97 had Columbus Cyber tubesets, the '98 had Reynolds 853 but that also had capped stays.

Edit: sorry meant 631, had 853 in my head because of the decal on your bike.

If you have a pic of the frame as you had it before repaint that'll help. As mentioned above its pre 97.
