Yeah well....ya know...here I sit staring at the copy righted date on the back of the 1997 model year catalog, all three copies of mine and all 71 glorious pages of them and there is no RTS's shown as complete bikes or frame sets...zero. And when you turn to pages 68-71 and look across the top of the spec sheets there are NO RTS's shown. Wonder Why??? Oh look here at bikepedia's listing of all the 1997 GT models http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... 7&Brand=GT
No RTS's, imagine that. There may have been some floating around yet in bike stores over there in 1997 but they were clearly 96 left overs. No one's ever had the 1997 model year decal style font for sale for RTS's either. In fact the 97 catalog in the US was printed in two formats 8-1/2 x 11" and a 28x28cm monster. Neither shows an RTS.

Now there is one shown in the German version of the catalog but it just shows it as RTS and it's got Alivio and Acera-X parts and a RTS crapola spring fork on it. They may have been put in the catalog because they were sitting on a warehouse full left over 96's. You can hardly call that an RTS. With GT there were a number of models and especially colors that were unique to some countries/distributor offerings. Germany also had a 97 Bravado and Arrowhead models that were offered in their catalog but not offered in the US and in the US we had a Pantera spec'd that was called a Terramoto over there. Not sure what the UK catalog shows, haven't ever seen one posted anywhere.

So because they never offered a RTS in 1997 to the USA market then they never produced one  You have proven it was offered in Germany.

Not particulally fussed what year it is, but it'd make a nice winter project.
