If we're being pedantic, neither is yours. You can't chrome plate aluminium.

The frame might be a 96 (what size is the seat post?) but the rear is definitely not as the early ones did not have a disc mount. That's at least a 98. Oh and it's poslished not chromed, as has already been said you can't chrome aluminium, they added the disc mount and changed the seat post to 27.2 in mid 98. There should be a serial number on the bb shell and the underside of the disc side dropout part of which is the date.

Oh and technically a frame with original paint is rarer than one that's poslihed as you can strip and polish anytime no way to prove it was supplied like that.
