Well don't they just keep on coming!

Languishing at car boot sale was this well used example.

Reynolds 708 touring frameset and 'spd' written on the steerer, its a G serial number for those interested.

I have already fitted my 'spare' 600 headset and given the frame a good clean up.

Pics later. Have yet to decide what parts to fit but given the metallic green, shiny is the way forward.

Re:

Sounds lovely. I’ve got a bike in brg and shiny silver is definitely the best look for parts on it.

Looking forward to seeing the photos :)
I have a real liking for these Royals as they always seem like such good touring type builds but often seem overlooked.

not the best pics but this how far I got in the few minutes daylight after work.

Mountain LX mechs, UN55, STX/ Mavic wheelset with correct 135mm rear, Shimano 600 cartridge headset with a thicker spacer, 500LX chainset with Sugino rings - I have an RSX triple but it just didnt look nice enough.

Have almost everything except tyres, tape and non brightly coloured cables!

Grey cables (but not Gray Gables) and gold bar tape I think along with silver mudguards

Brown tape was cheaper

Original STX brakes back on with new pads

I'm trying to re-use as much stuff that I have already as I can. I do need new cable inners though and some suitable off-road tyres.

I have a choice of saddles though.

Looks great, been looking at a couple of these for a light tourer, what tyre clearance can you get away with in it? Current winter bike is 28c with mudguards, 32c without. Aiming to beat that
