Hello

I stumbled upon this forum when I was googling trying to find some RC35s for sale (if anyone's got any going, especially with a 1" threadless steerer, please PM) and a cracking place it looks - I thought I'd stick a picture up of my trusty steed, my 1995 Sunn 5000 Max. It's all totally standard, except for the sharkteeth on the Gripshift, the Gripshift housings themselves (replaced from the shatter plastic with gorillamin ones from SRAM at the time) and a small modification to one of the levers due to my stripping the threads.

As well as being (in my opinion) gorgeous, it's a lovely bike to ride. It's not the best thing to keep clean mind, so, if I can get new decals, I'm considering getting it powder coated. Sacrilege?

Well you seem to love the bike so if you are keeping it and want to get it powdercoated do it. But yeah, I would think it sacrilage

Looks really good, such nice frames. I'd keep it rigid if it were mine, and not a fan of gripshift but that just looks right.

I know what you mean - I'm not sure I'll be able to bring myself to do it...

I get on really well with Gripshift and I often like rigid, but I'm going to give suspension a try - everyone I know's riding at least front suspension and, while I don't want to get all modern, a little extra forearm comfort could be nice!

lovely 8)

no paint issue there - very sturdy frame and chrome. sufficiently light and well equipped with XT stuff and 217. Only flaw was a non XT crankset :?
confess I switched now to triggers over gripshifts.

they are quite a few sunn buffs around here ( some of them from the other side of the pond  )

that was the bike that triggered my sunn mania ( about 12 sunns for me and the family) and then retrobike and a french similar forum made it slip to
breezer, serotta, parkpre, spe ..........

Thanks! I guess I'm just a bit lazy - where the chainstays meet the bottom bracket shell is a PITA to polish, likewise where the seatstays meet at the top. I need to strip it down and get at it with the Autosol really.

Never understood why they didn't take off over here in a big way...
