Hi,

I owned this bike about 5 years ago and I think it was a 1993 Specialized allez. Although it was one of my first road bikes I remember it was a dream to cycle, so I am trying to get the same groupset for a new build.

Can anyone tell me what groupset this is and if it is a 1993? I think this is in - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/mai ... emId=15630 . I think around 1994/95 campagnolo started writing the name of the set on the parts which is why I have placed it on this year.

I sold it in 2008 for the pricely sum of £112.

The preceeding Chorus / Athena brakes (late 80's early 90's) had pronounced "nuts" at the front otherwise they are quite similar......

I am about to list the same rear mech in vgc,I got it from here but didn't use it will let you know when I have pics.

That's a 94 Allez. That bike was build with the lowest end Campy gruppo available call Stratos. Many of the components were the same as Veloce but the finish wasn't as good. The shift levers on the Stratos ergo were plastic. It will break with age. There are no spare parts available for them. When my broke I replaced them with 8 speed Record Ergo.

From one extreme to the other then! Good call.

OP I may have a Campagnolo Veloce 9 speed groupset availble for £200 in great condition if you're looking for something.

As someone who only discovered Specialized existed a year ago, after a bright red, curvy top tube aluminium Allez pulled up next to me at the lights, I can't tell you how weird it is to see their name on a steel framed, horizontal top tube road bike. Where would that have been made?

It was made in the USA, if you look closely you can see an american flag on the seat tube.

That Allez was made in Taiwan by Giant. Under the American flag on the seat tube should say design in the U.S. Specialized never have their own factory. Previous Allez were made by Miyata, 3rensho and other one or two other Japanese companies.
