Yes it was, and everyone had a fair chance to buy it.

I took a chance buying it because nobody knew (or at least nobody let on) what frame it was until after I'd made my decision to buy it and split it. My initial thoughts were to split it and karma the frame

Glad I didn't now. As it stands, Fluffychicken got himself a bargain considering he got the frame, original cranks, Yates forks, titanium bottom bracket and original seatclamp for much less than the price an Altitude frame alone ;)

FairPlay to you for giving everyone a chance to buy the bits but I am in Rocki's camp on this one
It's great that the site supports both sides though...those of us who collect and restore and those who do the exact opposite ...yin and yang my friend

I wouldn't say that I do the exact opposite - for example the money from the bits I've sold has all gone into my savings "pot" for a Bradbury Manitou FS which I intend to buy from a member on this site, then restore and keep.

The important (and harder to find) things such as the cranks and seat collar stayed with the frame. The easy (or easier!) to find things, such as the M900 stuff, got sold.

Personally I'm all for buying complete bikes and then splitting them, and keeping other Retrobikers happy by selling the bits, as it's the only way that I can afford to put some money aside for the bike that I want. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen "Dibs on the xxxxx if you decide to split" as the first post on someone's for sale thread..! ;)

I always make sure that I check with the seller whether they're ok for me to buy their bike and split it too... That way everyone's happy!

granted at the time of purchase there was no confirmation of what the frame was so i see your point. I wasn't trying to knock you, sorry if it came across that way. just that i see it as one usually buys a complete bike for the frame and split the parts that you want to change up, but i guess it can work the other way around where there's a MUST have part or two.

it's all good. ;)
