I'm currently making it rideable, but it will probably end in a museum.

Imagine how fast you could ride on this in 1886 compared to your sporty mate on his silly old High Bicycle!

The Aero TT piece of its day, but with better handling, comfort and braking to boot.

How are the wheels constructed, looks like radial lacing, but are the spokes welded/brazed to the hub and rim?

Ride- wise, it's more than a lot like a bicycle.
They are comparatively heavy,
and slow cadence was normal.
Very slow handling,
pi55-poor brake.

As a rule on early steel crescent Rims, the spokes are steel, straight pull, Threaded into the hub flange, head in the rim.

The development of nipple and j-bend in the 1890s allowed tangential spoking, which brought greater strength and stiffness.

Most developments were dependent on metallurgical progress rather than a flash of inspiration.

The ratchet freewheel, for example, was in use in roman times, but needed fantastic metal quality to make small and light enough to be worth replacing fixed-gear drive

Cant confirm he rode this one, but he is long gone., so yes, probably a skeleton by now
I know you have a lot of expertise on antique bikes. This one is 1" block chain, pretty wild stuff
