Nice rough and ready tip find today...some money changed hands, but not much... tried to resist temptation but it was too cheap and pink not to buy it...
Seems to be mostly original even down to the very groovy handlebars (apparently titanium under the paint). Rear wheel as supplied was a 700c single speed/fixed flip hub... so I have fitted a spare wheel and tyre to turn it into a rolling chassis - although as it’s 130mm ish at the back it was a bit of a squeeze.
Front wheel looks barely worn. Galvanised spokes are grotty but it would be worth rebuilding I think... if I could find a matching rear!
I chucked the rusty chain in the scrap pile although chain tool indicated it was unworn... don’t think this has been ridden much poor thing.
One weirdness is the two self tapping screws sat in the down tube. I panicked that they might have been shoved into little rust holes to hide them but no, they are neatly and intentionally drilled... I wonder why?
The sensible thing to do would be to rob this for parts, especially as I need a set of similar (black) cantis, but predictably enough I’ve fallen for it already and am fairly well convinced it’s going to get a rebuild. It’s a bit big so I’m thinking touring spec.
Anyone know what size the seatpost is supposed to be. 27.2 goes in but is snug. Maybe it just needs a clean up...?
