The XTR M900 prone to cracking?
I’d be shocked to hear if a cold forged Shimano crank had cracked but who knows, not like you’re considering a set of Cooks or other machines cranks of the day. M900’s would look mighty sweet on your Hot IMHO

I got a decent looking cheap set once and it had a crack on the back of the drive side.

That rear brake booster sure makes adjusting the cantilever a real chore. Like how it looks though. Still hunting for a crankset that I like. Really like the old Race Face cranks but still searching for Sugino Mighties that are reasonable. Also want black chainrings with silver cranks or vice versa. Found a set of XTR M900 hubs in my town for decent price but not sure if it’s worth the spend and work of relacing to replace the M750 XT rear hub that’s already there

Been a minute since I had a chance to work on the Hot. Got new rubber thanks to @Canuckbiker. Was starting to lose faith that I would get these but he made it happen and I’m so grateful. Not been able to pull the trigger on a crankset yet. I’m really leaning towards some early Raceface cranks as I’ve always liked them and never had but I also want to stay somewhat true to the original spec of the bike. So until I make up my mind the LX ones will remain and I do think they look good as well.
