1993 Cannondale M800 ”Beast of the East” build thread.

Found this very mixed componentry M800 for 150€, a fair price. A custom build will most probably follow, as there are not too many catalogue components left.

Great score 👍, some nice non-stock parts for sure, wheels especially

Love this paint scheme, paint looks in good share. I love me 93'

Yes, the paint is in quite good condition, few chips here and there, but nothing really major. The drivetrain and brake combo are really mixed up, so there's some work ahead, Also chainrings, and rear sprockets need replacing. The big question is the faded neon yellow stem. EVO quilled stems are hard to find, so a repaint, or maybe compliment it with neon yellow cables :D The wheelset really is the cherry on the top.

I agree on the 1-1/4 stem situation, my sourced pepperoni was 1-1/8 so used reducers in the frame and lots of stem options.

The ATAC is sweet c/w noodle, the original BOTE stem color (at least for 93’) was silver/titanium colour I think, I’d be real tempted to repaint it and redecal it in a colour of your preference, silver seatpost/silver stem would like nice I think

Yes, polishing it would be quite lot of work, but it would be nice to match the seatpost. Let’s see…

Front derailleur and cassette cleaned. Fairly good condition under the grit. Anyone knows the cassettes to say if it’s hg70 or 90, or something else. 12-28t. All stickers long gone…

You can use a shim for the Stem and the is 1 1/8
I think the Wheelset and the stem doesn’t fit!
Yellow on this frame is a no go!
You can take black or purple parts

Here’s a little bit of inspiration for
You (one of the pictures are not mine)

It’s going to be 1/4 for sure. Either removing the ugly neon yellow paint and polishing/painting, or a new stem (have at sight already). Probably polished both stem and seatpost. Black wide bar. All yellow stuff is already removed…
