I was a Shimano guy BITD so interested to ride the Onza's (although have heard very mixed reports)

Tried SPD's backin the 90's and they made my knees ache like hell and have only ever used Onza's since due to their built in extra float

Don't know what MTS thinks but forget the Clear and Grey elastomers you can pull your foot out of them - Blue is Ideal and Black must be for anyone who doesn't want to put their foot down as once your in thats it :shock:

My first SPDs were Onza HOs when they first came out (paired with a pair of PooBahs...) and knew no different until a few years later I was given a pair of 525 SPDs. No float, rattly weird feeling - hated them.

Rode flats for many years, and went back to clipless when I started building retro again - obvious choice was Onza.

last year, I got a new XC bike, and bought some (modern) shimano pedals again. Engagement is excellent, but I still don't really like the feel of them. I still love the way the Onzas feel, and will probably be trying out some other brands this year for the modern equivalent. I have a set of crank bros to try out.

Wow, how did I miss this thread? I suppose I was stuck in the post '98 end.
Good work with the dent pulling there. I never even contemplated it with mine as the later ones were painted.

Right, this lot arrived today, all Regina Italian freewheels and sprockets, having never had a freewheel on one of my bikes (well probably on my childhood bikes but wasn't into taking them to bits then ). So need to learn what tools I need and how to take the sprockets off, and hopefully I can make a decent cassette out of this lot :shock:

Another part of the puzzle, levers to match the Quantum shifters. Not the right colour but I wasn't prepared to pay German prices, so scored these for a really good price from the Bay and there will be some more work for Acorn

Seriously, before you commit too hard, try and check out how well they work with the Prostop - they're fussy as hell about the levers they want...

Thanks for the advice..they didn't break the bank so won't be a tragedy if they don't work out but will probably do a trial run before commiting to anodising.

(It looks like) you've got the later levers with v or canti pivot position, so it *could* work out.
