1992 Salsa Ala Carte

I took delivery of this 92 frame in the spring and it came all the way from Toronto. Its history as i know it is that its been used for just one seasons racing and was then sent back to Ross Shafer for a new paint job and has been boxed up ever since. It has a grey metalic powder coat and in the sun is pretty striking.

Id been after a set of Bonty composite forks to match it and couldnt think of any other fork to stick on it to be brutally honest and its taken a fair while to locate a set but eventually patience has paid off and kindly a retro biker from the Netherlands came up trumps with a set. There was nowhere near enough threads on the steerer so managed to add an extra two inches worth before cutting the steerer down.

So at the moment it has a Bonty titec bar and Salsa stem with Mavic headset, the original Salsa seat binder and the rest will be Shimano m900 kit which hopefully will manage to do in the next couple of weeks.

Ive put a wanted ad for a Syncros hang doggy for the stem.Of course i cant use a standard headset cable hanger as the Mavic is just one big locknut.Im thinking of getting a Syncros copy off ebay and just use a reducer spacer for it so it will work on the Salsa stem.Any ideas anyone.

Re: Salsa ala Carte 1992

Excellent stuff so far! :D

Re: 92 Salsa ala Carte

Fantastic frame & fork. :D

I used to have an old stem made by ross, back in the early 90's, it was a piece of art.
This stem had a roller to guide the front brake cable..

This is one on ebay at the moment, not cheap though.

Re: 92 Salsa ala Carte

If you can find a Salsa stem with a roller that would go better than a Hang Doggy or you could go boutique with the brakes and get some Paul Crosstops. Looks like a great project, best of luck with it.

That is going to look really nice when you're finished. Look forward to seeing the pictures. 8)
