1992 Retrotec Dirt Craft / MOMBAT in Dirt Rag

On a somewhat related topic, I own one of the pre-Gerber Cool Tools (Taiwanese version) mentioned in the article. Exactly like the one pictured here:

http://www.multitool.org/wiki/tiki-inde ... ight=stabl

My first bike tool, bought with a folding tool (which I also still have, though it finally fell apart a couple of years ago.) Edit: dug it out and it's intact, just one side of the handle fell off after ten years. Funny my modern Crank Bros multi tool was a piece of crap and didn't last two years.

Shame I don't have the ti version of the Cool Tool

Yup yup! Still rely on mine as the primary tool. Wonderful (albeit heavy!) tool. 8)

The beauty of riding to work, and carying your repair kit in the currier bag. Pictures are a step away!

Ditto....i've owned it since 1990 and it goes on every ride with me.....proper retro :D

I love mine. Often I throw the alan key in my pocket for easy access when I go on a ride if I need to adjust saddle height. I've never given it much thought until now. I wonder how many are still out there, complete and still in use?

Hope we're not hijacking here. I might add a picture to my original post when the camera battery is charged.

What's funny (or sad?!) is that we've taken Jeff's post about a collection bike making it into Dirt Rag, and turned it into a thread about a twenty year-old taiwanese pocket tool.

True, but at least the tool was designed by the same person who made the bike :? Maybe we could move all this and start a seperate thread about the Cool Tool to see how many of us have one kicking around...
