It's obviously not genuine zolatone , because i think it's nigh on impossible to get that stuff any more. Remember the older bikes had darker zolatone than the newer ones. My 90 bear valley is darker than a later pine mountain for example.

I remember reading about a chap on here who worked out that hammerite stonechip protect in grey , applied correctly is a pretty much exact copy of zolatone. And i can confirm that it is.

Tough and chip resistant too. Got to be the hammerite version though , as others can dry with a sheen / like rubber.

I'll try and get some photos with a proper camera rather than a phone to show you the texture. I'm at work at the mo , but here's a larger picture.

how many tins required?
could be what i need for my BV Project see sig below

Re:

Little update as it was sunny today.

Progress has been slow on this as I've had a lot on :(

Done over the winter :

Million ton fork binned and replaced with marin rockstar cut to length and painted black.
XT headset fitted
Carbon Profile bars fitted
All stickers fitted
XT skewers fitted
Charge spoon saddle fitted
XT 734 brakes with XT pads fitted
XT735 rear mech fitted

To do :

Fit NOS Xlite bar ends
Fit front mech
Fit BB
Fit chain rings and cranks ( 730 with 735 pedals ) and chain
Cable up

Realistically , I will give it to a bike shop to cable up and put the BB in as I am about as technical as a tea pot. The fun for me is collecting the parts , painting etc , Plus I have no idea what width BB is needed so I will let them work it out.

Re:

Great work so far! 8)

(You'll need a 68x122.5mm BB if using M730 cranks btw.. CRC, Wiggle etc all stock them, not expensive for a un55)

:D

Re:

Buy the bb as Dossa suggested and a bb tool like this..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle- ... 541ba092c2

Make sure you put it in the right way around and bobs your uncle 8)

It's more rewarding if you do everything yourself, certainly cheaper and you gain tools and knowledge along the way :D

Coming along nicely by the way

Re:

I've got a black marin roller stem in the garage , wondering if I should go with that instead of the syncros ?

Found a bottom bracket on wiggle £11.99 ! Happy days.

Never installed one in my life before , are they difficult ?

I don't have any crank bolts for the cranks  are they all the same , or am I looking for any in particular ?
