1992 Kona Cindercone

Hic-Up-Apple-Nod

Retro Newbie
Just bought this from ebay, looks pretty much original spec apart from the tyres, seat, and possibly the pedals, and at first glimpse of the pic the condition looks good for £61.01, well will see when it arrives anyway.

Am planning to ride it over the remainder of the summer and if I feel the need, possibly give it a respray over the winter months and get some new decals. Any ideas if this Gil character that keeps popping up in forum posts is still flogging the decals?

Hic - at that price you shouldn't have any complaints 8)

Have fun...............and post up lots of piccys when you're about it :P

(doesn't look as if it needs a respray either)

nice....loks like a steal at that money!......dont respray unless it really needs it, it will lose some of its retro charm and be worth less if sold.....

I have the same bike, owned it since new. Called "Katie".

Suntour XC Ltd groupset.

UKAI UM17 rims I think.

Dia Compe 986 rear brake.

Good bike, I am resurrecting mine for off road duties.

Got this today eventually :-) a little confused though, looking at the 1992 catalogue, the components, color, frame decals... are the same, only difference is the project two forks have the 1993 decals and there is an extra race light frame decal... is a lovely bike but was just wondering if this was a different edition, frame is a lot lighter than i remember my 92 lava dome being also, but then I was only 8 stone back then so I dunno.

Any ideas?

Definitely 1992 model.

Has it got the components I listed above? I have the same bike in my garage (although repainted).

1993 forks are longer..... (1992 models don't have suspensions adjusted geometry, 1993 models do).....
