as long as it has that gloss look what kleins are famous for and the paint job is up to factory standard i dont see a problem.

I wonder if im allowed to see it before i start going and bidding silly money.

thanks andy

weren't you the guy who would not bid silly money on the c-26, yet you would bid silly money on this?

hmmm

I would completely lose it if I paid for original paint and ended up with a respray. There is a world of difference, even if the respray is perfect.

this is a bike where the tubes stay together not somthing that looks like it come out of a skip called the c26. and also please note that it is a respray not a reproduction. when i get it i am going to spray it hot pink would that mean the bike is something other than a real original klein. and also £6000 on c26 is silly money compared to couple grand on a klein.

You mean you're hoping the tubes stay together. If it's been resprayed, you don't know if there are dings or cracks that have been filled with bondo and then covered up by the new paint. I'm not saying that's the case with this frame but it's that element of doubt, I think, that counts as one reason an original paint frame will command a higher premium vs one that's been repainted. It looks like his auction is off to a good start but he could be setting himself up for trouble with the buyer if they discover it's not original paint once they actually receive the frame. His earlier post makes it sound like he'll update his auction to reflect the repainting info and I commend him for it if he follows through.

Commend away SF Klein, it was updated last night. May I also remind you that although your points are extremely valid it did not put you off trying to sort out a deal with me for your trek spec Adroit

I hope this concludes the matter, however as they say any publicity is good publicity which will hopefully be reflected in the selling price :)

there are many reasons why a frame is resprayed. to check if the frame has been pollyfilled or tampered with you only have to do the 12 ding test and you will know. I would not buy this bike from the states because they do all sorts of stuff to them over there.

i have been invited to look at the bike so im not buying blind, and also to find a klein in the condition i want no one is going to sell unless i find some guy who has one in the atic and never ridden it. i would pull my hair out if i had a klein with original paint and it had scratches on it. i will look at the machine if i like i will pay if not i will leave it simple really.

thanks andy

did he now well that is SF being sour by the sounds of it.

Uh...I don't think so. In case you didn't see the first post I didn't know this was the same bike originally. And fwiw, I've found one of the attic finds you mention so there aren't any sour grapes on my end I can assure you. The only point I was making, and others agreed, is that proper repaints are FINE with MANY people but not for others and if a frame has been repainted it should be called out. 'nuff said.
