Great to actually hear that. It probably rides much better than a modern rig now, as the light lively feel of the tubing from that era has been largely lost in modern frame designs. The Singer Porsche of retro mountainbikes, if you will.

Did you need to take the rear stay bridge out?

I have a mint Yo.. would be interested in seeing what it’s like on 27.5... but ideally without angle grinding it!

I shall clean it up over weekend and take some pics of the work involved in fitting 27.5 tyres. The fork was built around a rigid segmented fork from a great reputable company. And obviously to fit in with the Yo’s non suspension corrected stance.

Most interesting build on RB in many years. These were built with massive tyre clearance allowing this type of build 30yrs later. I keep saying no more bikes, then something like this crops up and... 😍

Finally got round to cleaning it up. Logged nearly a couple of hundred miles on it in 2 weeks. The bridge was left in place at both chainstays and seatstays. Some slight scalloping of the chain stays was needed to be able to squeeze anything bigger than the 1.95 that’s on at the minute. I reckon it’d take a 2.1. This is by far the best handling retrobike I own. And that includes a FAT Ti.
Also my friend did a custom coloured King Ti cage for me just to be a bit different
