1991 GT Karakoram (Blue Widow)

Hi all! Happy noob wants to show his find. 22" is my size and they're not very common to find here in Sweden. Picked it up for £90. Zero dings and no rust that I can spot (aside from rust on the not so original handlebar). Had a peek down the seat tube, and it's clean. Some surface scratches exist. Only thing thing is that a small portion the "Karakoram" stickers have somehow curled up under the clear coat on both sides. I first thought that it was bare metal, but seems the Blue Widow paint is hiding under the damaged coat and sticker (see pictures below). I guess I should just leave it?

Rear wheel is slightly out of true. Will let the LBS fix that. Owner removed the left shifter and the front derailleur because he didn't know how to adjust it (at least so he said). He had saved the parts in a plastic bag together with the original straps for the pedal cages.

Considering committing heresy and doing a drop bar conversion as that will fit my use. I have a Velo Orange Cigne stem and a Crust Towel Rack that are not being used. I want to keep the front and rear derailleur. What are my options in terms of shifters/brake levers? From what I read, the Ultegra 8 speed bar-end shifters should work for the rear mech. But what about the front mech? Are there 3x7 Microshift Brifters that would work?

Should I bother removing bottom bracket and headset and degrease/grease? Will be my first time doing that.

Thanks!
