Actual progress with one of my builds (no, not the Aende or Scapins):
Having resorted to cutting most the spokes to dismantle the wheel, I had found some spokes the same length ..... but only 29. I saved some of the originals, so no problem .......
....... except this is exactly the sort of thing that I knew would make this my most challenging build. I didn't feel comfortable using a mix of spokes but the whole idea of this bike (at least for the initial build) is to use what it there to build a nice riding but scruffy looking bike to be my main runaround.
Maybe it's better for my wheelbuilding development too.
Anyway, I'm happy with how true it is. Next, apply Kurust everywhere where both layers of paint are gone and there's some rust. Then build it up with the original parts except for replacement levers and shifters since one shifter was missing. And add mudguards.
