I don’t know much about Peugeot – they’ve never been on my bike radar – but the relaxed angles and lugged fork of this US Express caught my eye.
The seller, Alan, had bought it new in Israel when he was there working for the United Nations, and eventually brought it back to Australia. It was then handed down to his daughter, who used it for kiddy-ferrying duties. It had spent the last 5 years or so gathering dust in the garage with a kiddy seat bolted to it.
I gave Alan $56 (about £30) and got it home a couple of days ago. Tonight was the first opportunity to get a hose on it - its first wash for many years. With the exception of the saddle I think it's all original. Alan certainly couldn't recall upgrading anything. The mechs are Sachs Huret Rider, the tyres are Swallow Mountaineers, the shifters and chainset are ... well I'm not sure what they are yet. But happy to be advised by those who know.
