1990 MuddyFox Adventurer

A few little tweaks for my Adventurer today. Looked like this to begin with.

The modern Ritchey WCS grips simply don’t last - this has happened to all the sets I’ve bought and fitted in recent years, so they’ve got to go.

I’ve never been 100% happy with the brifters I’d fitted as they are a little newer than the all the other XT parts, so they've got to go - well the brake lever part at least.

The toe-clips are next to go, as I was finally able to find a fluro orange set like I had BITD.

Also changing the unbranded, very heavy bars for a set of Muddy Fox branded even heavier bars! (20g heavier, but slightly longer)

And done!

I've just come across this thread and read it all the way through, and I think you've taken this from good to great with the last couple of adjustments you've made.
My favourite era of Fox, with one of my favourite builds.

Small word to note... the internal roller on the stem EATS brake cables as the radius is so right.
A really good switch (and original to your levers) would be to switch to the braided 2.0mm XT cables as they're super flexible as well as stronger. Hopefully this will keep upi alive longer in the event of a breakage.
Bicyclist.cc has them NOS. Also would provide opportunity (respectfully) to change from the '93 cable straddles to the period correct hanger.

Loving it though, great job, and a great find on the grips and bars.
