Just got back from collecting this, nice shed find condition and with the sweet rear wheel discs too!
Needs a going over to re-commission and a couple of bits swapping out, I have the correct rear derailleur to replace the Deore lx one already luckily.

Looks like the rubber covers for the brake levers have perished or been lost at some point. Anyone know what make/model I should be searching for to replace them?

Should be a fun one this one. A 1990 pathfinder was the first retro mtb I bought when I was getting in to the hobby so when I saw this I had to have it. :)

Pretty sure the levers are Dia Compe? Think I’ve got a set you can have, will have a look later/tomorrow after work.

Not the ones I thought they were. I saw the Suntour Xpress shifters and thought they’d be the same as the levers I took off my Courier Prestige. These are Dia Compe XCE, you are welcome to them for the cost of postage if they are any use. They were standard spec on the Courier Prestige so would be an appropriate upgrade I guess!

PM sent. Always remember a lad in our village had a Pathfinder, was very jealous, it was the best bike around our way for some time. He had a Raleigh Vektar before that with the radio and the speedo etc on the top tube, that was also the cause of much jealousy!

Yeah, stunning paint scheme on these, this is how the first one I got looked when I bought it - a couple of years ago. Mad bar/saddle combo did end up in the bin in fairly short order.. 😂 F3EFB00A-5386-4B87-B4D5-4A2DC410CBB3.jpeg

I got this finished off today, it’s been a project that I’ve been picking away at between other bikes. As such there’s no photos of the build progress sadly.
It’s been stripped back to component parts and then rebuilt with servicing/re-greasing along the way. I’ve put the new levers on ( thanks @Gtpulse :) ), new chain and freewheel, cables etc..
It’s not mint but it is tidy considering it’s age, I was going to repaint or polish the crank arms until I realised that the chainrings don’t unbolt. Might just wait for a nicer set to come along or upgrade them perhaps in the future.
It rides... well, it rides like you’d expect a 90’s steel Mtb with a long stem to ride. (!)
The rear disc sorta hums along behind you, great fun, and so pretty. Love it.
