1990 Marin Pine Mountain. *Update 27/7/16*.

Re: 1990 Marin Pine Mountain. *Update 19/7/16*.

Dog is never happy unless she's chasing a ball! Wife just rolls her eyes when she looks in the garage!:-)

Re:

Nearly finished now. The levers could do with a touch up and it needs some bar plugs but pretty pleased with it now. Having given up on finding a period Marin saddle in decent condition I plumped for a Rolls. I think it fits the bill. 8)

Unfortunately having had a quick spin it's not going to fit me, no matter how hard I try to convince myself so it's destined to be a garage queen or be moved on.

Re:

It's a pity it doesn't fit you bud as it is a very tidy specimen.. I suffer from the same affliction as you, i buy Marin frames, clean and build them up, ride it round the block and then have 2 days off work with a bad back and then retirr the bike to the garage wall never ro be ridden again. Hopefully one in your size turns up... But then i'll be bidding against you. :-) ;-) :-P

Rich.

Re:

I know Rich. Problem is that the bigger bikes don't look as good!

The issue with this is the reasonably short stem and seat post. I checked my Clockwork today as I feared that I might have been kidding myself about that too but a huge seatpost and 140mm stem sort the job. 8)

I have probably got an original Marin saddle; I replaced it with a Rolls about a week after I bought the bike back in 1990. It was an awful gel thing with a lycra cover and it was total crap. I'd stick with the Rolls. :D

Re:

Yeah, those gel Lycra ones were pretty mince and not very robust. I guess that's why they're so scares!

My mates 91 has an original leather Marin saddle though and it's much better and very much like the Rolls. They're big units though so I guess people swapped them for lighter versions such as the Flite bitd.
