1990 Kona Explosif - Finished! see Page 4

Re:

Bit of progress; wheels back from the builders - rear skewer installed, front skewer awaited.
8speed mtb cassette swapped for all the cassette parts shown above as they were all a mix of incorrect sprockets and lock rings.

Rear wheel comes in at a hefty 1470g, front (without skewer) at 790g

Forgot I had acquired a ‘90 Kona Avocet for this project

Can’t do to much at the moment as I’m waiting for a BB shell cable guide to arrive, plus the rear mech needs one of the adjuster screws to be helicoiled as the threads are gone.

Still need to source seatpost, cantilevers, bullet shifters and all cables/outers.

Any suggestions on what tyres to go with?

Hadn’t given it much thought! Is it an integral part of the cable guide screw? Or a separate hole (don’t recall seeing two...)? Where to source grease nipple?

It acts as the cable guide screw too.
Try tool trader lubequip, they might have the right thread still available, worth a try.

Re:

Small update whilst I still hunt for parts :)

The tires I’ve thrown on are actually destined for my Yeti - but I couldn’t help but notice how good the logo colour works with the frame

Really liking it a lot!

Re: 1990 Kona Explosif

And nice one with the cranks - they look so nice and good choice with the campag - suits the frame absolutely !
How much does the bike weigh?
