1990 Cannondale M2000

Just picked up this frame last night, top of the range back then but unfortunately that year there was the recall of the Pepperoni forks. So now I am looking for some forks for this frame...but as some may already know where this is going, these frames take an inch and a quarter headset! Also as it's a 22 inch frame I need a long, long steerer. I think my chances of finding something suitable are close to zero so I was wondering if there is any way to convert to inch and an eighth?
I would be interested to hear if anyone has any info on any way to do this.

Yes, you can buy reducer cups that fit into the head tube. I think reducer headsets are also a possibility.

Are you sure it's a 1990. They had a 1" headtube.
