1989 Specialized Stumpjumper

So, here's what I did to this. It's my first ever restomod – something I don't usually do, but wanted an everyday commuter with a long-distance touring vibe. Apart from the stem length/height (still deciding), and the overlong brake cable, and racks ...this is now finished. All new parts on a 1989 Stumpjumper frame, bought off eBay pre-pandemic. Resprayed by Aurum, decals by Velocals. And credit where credit's due, I took inspiration for the braking department from @ectoplasmosis beautiful 91 Stumpjumper Comp build https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1991-stumpjumper-comp-nos-frame-fork.421954/. I'd planned on a modern Grafton set-up.

Good grief. What i would have done for that in 1989. I remember falling for the '87 range in Evans Kingston, then the '88 in this colour (magenta pink / Dinucci green) coming out and that being the holy grail to an '87 Muddy Fox'd me. Quite Lovely.

Stunning frame and build! Love the choice of components too

Is there a reason for the CSS rim on the rear, and plain machined alloy on the front, other than availability? It’s a shame the CSS rims have been discontinued, it’s a great feature. Mine have zero wear after thousands of all-season miles.

Thanks. Mostly availability, partly post rationalisation (I had only one CSS, and it made sense to put it out back). I agree it's a pity you can't easily get the CSS rims any more.
